By Maurice Garvey
A CLONDALKIN garda had a welcome visit from a man who wanted to thank her for saving his life.
In February, Alan Fitzsimons was in Clondalkin Garda Station carrying out some repair work when he went into cardiac arrest.

Garda Delaney, along with other garda members, Sgt O’Neill, D/Sgt Kenny and Garda Comerford, came to Alan’s assistance.
They performed CPR and Garda Delaney utilised a defibrillator obtained from the South Dublin County Council building across the road.
According to Dublin Fire Brigade and a Cardiac Consultant, the heroic actions of the gardai involved saved Alan’s life.
Posting a message on social media, AGS Dublin said: “It was great to see Alan at Clondalkin Garda Station in fine health with his lovely family who wanted to express, in person, their gratitude to Garda Delaney and all the garda members for their lifesaving actions. We all wish Alan and his family a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
