All are welcome to join in at annual street party

THE annual street party on the green in Pinetree Crescent in Kilnamanagh will take place from 3pm this Saturday, July 22, and attendees will be treated to a barbecue and live music.

This follows on from a successful street party that was held in the cul-de-sac last summer, with over 60 people showing up to take part in the festivities.

Plans are already in full swing for this year’s event, which will feature live music from up-and-coming Clondalkin musician Taylor D and seasoned trad musician and Pinetree resident Kieran Kelly.

A live stage will be constructed for the street party, while a tent will also be erected which will house a barbecue and all manner of sweet treats.

The event was initially organised by Pinetree Crescent residents John Kenny, Kieran Kelly and David Tonge as a way to bring the community back together after the pandemic.

John, who is also a director of the Tallaght Cancer Support Group, told The Echo: “Anyone that wants to join in is welcome to. We’re holding it again this year because it was such a success last year and people enjoyed what was happening. We were delighted, and people were asking us when we were going to have another one. It was just phenomenal.”

The organisers are hoping that this year’s street party will be another well-attended success, and a highpoint for many in the community.

“When we had the party last year,” added John, “so many people came along and expressed how delighted they were with what was going on.”
