Tickets are on sale now and can be booked through the Civic website or box office.
How are you involved with Women’s Aid?
I was linked with Women’s Aid a few years ago and have received some great support from them over that time, whether that was just sitting and making sense of a lot of things, making a timeline to help give me clarity, education around terminology, being able to offer to cover some counselling sessions, or simply just showing up for court dates to make sure I had someone in my corner or a safe space.
My life has been filled with a lot of heavy stuff over the past while, and I just felt I wanted to pour my energy into something positive that could give back, even just a little.
I feel they’re a very necessary service to have, and whether you’ve used them yourself or not, I can guarantee you are never far from someone who has or will.
What inspired you to set up this fundraiser night for Women’s Aid?
The fundraiser was an idea I had for weeks but kept just parking because I didn’t really know what to do or how to go about it.
But eventually I had mentioned it to my partner, and he gave the encouragement to just try, and within an hour we’d planned half of it!

What has been involved in the organisation of this event? How did you bring in these big names, such as Al Porter, Jamie Mcintyre, Emmett O’Brien, etc.?
I will admit I am lucky with the position that Gavin is a music producer for Jamie and Dáwna, so he was able to work his magic there.
Luke, Joe, Al and Shanners are all friends that Gavin grew up with! A fortunate bunch of friends for sure to be filled with so much talent.
And with Emmet, it was a “Chance my arm” kind of thing.
I love a good spoken word piece, a poem, or something with rhythm to it.
I find it all very impactful. So I had randomly reached out to him on instagram and explained my idea and just asked if he’d be on board, with the attitude that the worst he could say was no. So thankfully that all worked out!
We’d gotten everyone on board first and then went to look for a venue, and the Civic Theatre just seemed perfect for it, and I know some of our local artists have always wanted to play the venue too, so it’s a win-win!
From there I just started making all of the advertisement graphics for it – flyers, posters, social media content – and going to hang the posters up around our area!
Doing it all myself has been great and really helped jump back into the creative side of life.
What has been your favourite part of organising this event, and why?
I think having something positive to focus on has been great and given me something out of routine to do that’s fun, and all to give back to a great cause!
Being able to help people, give back to people or bring just even a bit of fun and joy to someone’s day is something I am all for, and this is a great way to do it!
A night of some laughs, some poetry and some incredible music.
I’ve had the pleasure of hearing a lot of their music in the working phases and really seen the time, love, and passion they have for their work, and they deserve all the credit for it.
So a night to share some of that, have people come together, and just have fun on a Wednesday evening is what we’re aiming for!
What have been the biggest challenges involved with organising this event, and how have you navigated them?
The only tough part so far, I think, is just getting the word out and getting people interested, more because it is just me doing it myself and relying on shares and people engaging with the posters and then the social media side too.
It can be a bit nervy the closer it’s getting to try to sell some more tickets so I can raise as much money as possible!
What is next for you? Are there any more fundraisers to look forward to in 2026?
I’d hope, though, that with this fundraiser all going to plan and being successful, I could hopefully make it a more regular thing to try to raise money for some different services we have also used or are close to home for us.
I think the world is in a place where we need healing, and what better way to start than coming together and sharing some fun!
Who would you like to thank for helping to make ‘A Night for Her’ possible?
I’m very grateful to all the guys who are performing because I couldn’t have done this without them giving up their time and wanting to be involved.
I’m grateful for Gavin for the encouragement to actually get my bum in gear and bring it all to life!
And to anyone who has engaged, shared, or bought a ticket already.
And then of course the Civic theatre for providing the space to hold it! It’s shaping up to be a super night, and I can’t wait now!
