By Mary Dennehy
THE NINTH annual Tallaght Health Fair will take place next Tuesday, September 10, with the entire community invited to come along for information on local services, free health checks and complementary therapies.
The free health fair, which will be staged in the Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre, will boast a vibrant, relevant and tailored selection of stands on the many health and wellbeing services and supports within the Tallaght area – and further afield.

Some of the stands will include Tallaght University Hospital, the local Primary Care Team, Migraine Association, Pieta House, South Dublin Citizens Information, Tallaght Library, Irish Heart Foundation, Marie Keating Foundation, Foróige, MS Society, Alzheimer’s Society, Focus Ireland and Saoirse Women’s Refuge.
Professor Brendan Kelly from Tallaght University Hospital will also deliver a talk on, How to be Happy in the Real World.
Alongside information and advice, complementary therapies, blood pressure checks, diabetes specialists, and mini-makeovers, skin scanning to check for sun damage will also be available on the day.
According to Catherine Heaney of the Fettercairn Community Health Project: “This is our ninth annual Tallaght Health Fair and we are delighted to be able to co-ordinate this event every year.

“The Health Fair allows the community to access health and wellbeing information and find out what services are out there, as well as availing of some health-testing and complementary therapies.
“There is also a great community atmosphere during the morning – we are very much looking forward to another successful Health Fair.”
The Tallaght Health Fair will take place on Tuesday, September 10, from 10am to 1pm in the Fettercairn Community and Youth Centre.
The event is free and open to the entire community of Tallaght, with everyone encouraged to avail of this opportunity to learn of the supports within their area – and take some time out with a complimentary cup of tea or coffee.
