Arts festival launched
A local Arts festival was launched recently.
The Ballyfermot Cherry Orchard Arts Festival, which will run from July 07 to July 14, was launched by the Ballyfermot Youth Service at the Ballyfermot Community Civic Centre.
“The Beermats launched it,” said Gerry McCarthy, who is on the steering committee for the Arts festival.
The Beermats are a band from Ballyfermot and they will also be the official Grand Marshals of the Festival.
The festival will have 35 events all of which will be free.
“There are three big family days, one will be in Markievicz Park, the second will be in Cherry Orchard Park and the third will be in the Equine Centre, Cherry Orchard,” said Gerry.
“There will also be an Evening of Opera in the People’s Park [Ballyfermot], there will be Art Attack also in the People’s Park, which is a whole day event for children including jewellery making on Wednesday, July 10,” said Gerry.
“There will also be lunchtime concerts Monday to Friday that week in the Skate Park, which will be a mix of music, including pop,” said Gerry.
“There are a huge number of events to cater for all age groups. Full details can be found in our brochure which is on the Ballyfermot Cherry Orchard Arts Festival 2024 Facebook page,” said Gerry.
