Aslan rocked the Lock
LUCAN Sarsfields GAA Club hosted a fundraiser night on Saturday August 26 which saw Irish rockers Aslan perform at the grounds of the 12th Lock.
Approximately 2500 people attended the event with a cost of €20 per ticket charged.
According to PRO of Lucan Sarsfields, Michael Bowler, a portion of the money made will be going towards the club’s annual expenses and running costs.
In regards to the atmosphere on the night, Mr Bowler said it was “superb”. He also added that “the two music acts went down really well” regarding performances given by 80’s tribute band The Reflex and Aslan on the night.
Mr Bowler did mention that there were “a few challenges with queuing for the bar” and that the club have been made aware of these issues.
He was unable to give full details on finances raised from the event as of yet. He did add that he hopes this year’s earnings will compensate for the financial loss that the club endured last year with their first musical fundraiser unable to cover the costs.
The cost required to run the GAA club is €400,000 annually with €200,000 completely dependent on being acquired from fundraising attempts. Mr Bowler commended all the volunteers in their efforts to sell the tickets and for helping to steward the event on the night.
As part of their fundraising attempts, Lucan Sarsfields will also be selling tickets for a Christmas draw with cash prizes included.
This will be taking place in a number of weeks and for those who are interested in getting involved, you can keep up to date at the club’s website, www.lucansarsfields.ie
