August Sports Star of the Month: Hannah Tyrrell

HANNAH Tyrrell produced a brilliant performance in the All-Ireland Senior Football Final as Dublin overcame Kerry to win the Brendan Martin Cup.

Hannah, from Clondalkin, kicked eight first half points, including four from play as she picked up the Player of the Match Award.

The victory secured Hannah her first All-Ireland medal after she linked up with the Dublin panel in 2021 after finishing her International rugby career.

The talented forward scored 1-21 during the course of the championship and winning an All-Ireland medal was a dream come true for the player.

“It was something I had a dreamed about for a very long time and to do it with this bunch of girls after a tough couple of years is really special,” Hannah told The Echo.

“If I’m in with Dublin next year I will be giving it 100 per cent,” she added.

The last time the Dubs won the Brendan Martin Cup was back in 2020 and Hannah certainly played a key role in the team’s success this season.

Hannah will now concentrate on playing with her club Na Fianna who are into the semi-finals of the Senior Football Championship.
