Back to ‘scool’ for the crew behind this road marking…

IT’S time to send those behind a new road marking in Firhouse back to school, according to a local councillor.

This week, residents spotted a misspelling on the road outside Scoil Treasa in Firhouse, where the word school has been painted without a ‘h’.

According to local Fianna Fail councillor Paul Foley: “A constituent notified me of a spelling error in the road markings opposite the school whereby the word 'school' is itself misspelled – the letter 'h' being omitted.

“Mistakes happen, but given the location outside the school, I thought it was a little bit funny and a good example to the students of Scoil Treasa of the importance of learning their spellings each evening.

“I have notified the authorities of the need to have the matter rectified.”

When contacted by The Echo today, a spokesperson for South Dublin County Council said: “This road was recently re-surfaced by a contractor on behalf of the council which involved re-instatement of all road markings.

“Unfortunately, the lining contractor did install the ‘SCHOOL’ marking on one side of the road incorrectly (it is spelled correctly on the other side!).

“The lining contractor is aware of the matter and will rectify it promptly.”
