Back‑to‑back shootings spark fear in Bluebell and Inchicore

Two shootings in Bluebell and Inchicore have sparked concern in the local community as nerves and anxiety were described.

An alleged shooting on the Jamestown Road in Inchicore on Monday night involved shots fired at a moving vehicle, and a second incident occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday at Castleview Apartments in Bluebell.

No injuries were reported, with minor damage noted to be caused to the property that set the scene for the second incident on the Naas Road.

Ballyfermot-Drimnagh Councillor Daithí Doolan noted that “people are genuinely nervous and anxious” and deserve “safety” in their own communities.

Cllr Doolan said: “People are genuinely nervous and anxious at the increase in gun violence. Communities deserve to go about their daily business in safety.

“I would appeal to Minister O’Callaghan to ensure Gardaí are made available to patrol and protect our communities.”

The local elected representative questioned the resources being put towards operations in the city centre and “priority over local residents.”

Cllr Doolan added that questions must be asked of Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan TD as many gardaí are called into the city centre for work at Dublin Castle due to Ireland’s ongoing EU Presidency, held until the end of the year.

“The Minister for Justice must get to grips with this serious violence. It appears that the VIPs in Dublin Castle are taking priority over local residents. This is unacceptable.”

Gardaí issued statements on the two incidents of firearm discharge and noted that investigations are ongoing.

The statement on the Inchicore incident on Monday: “Gardaí are investigating an incident of a discharge of a firearm that occurred on Jamestown Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8 on Monday night 21st September, 2026 at approximately 10pm.

“It is alleged that shots were fired at a passing vehicle and there have been no report of any persons injured, at this time.

“Investigations ongoing.”

The statement on Wednesday’s Castleview apartments incident: “Shortly after midnight on Wednesday 23rd September, 2026, Gardaí from Sundrive Road responded to reports of a firearm discharge outside an apartment complex on Naas Road, Dublin 12.

“No one was injured and only minor damage was caused to the property.

“Investigations into the incident are ongoing.”
