Ballyfermot man lends a helping hand

Ballyfermot man lends a helping hand

On one of the hottest days of the year, a Ballyfermot man spent the afternoon cooking dozens of dinners for Dublin’s homeless.

Ballyfermot man Brian Birkett cooked 50 curries to feed the inner city’s homeless on Monday.

The retired man volunteers for A Lending Hand – one the city’s many soup runs bringing food, tea and supplies to Dame Street to feed the capital’s homeless and rough sleepers every Monday.

A Lending Hand posted a photo of Brian’s labour on Monday, writing: “So this gent who is retired makes our homeless pals over 50 four-in-one chicken curry rice and chips every Monday night.

“Tonight he’s stuck for a lift from Ballyfermot to Dame Street and Back, would any of you lovely people be able to help him out?”

The post was met with an outpouring of praise and offers of a lift from the public.
