Last month he had told Hendrick that he was going to jail her and he gave her a month to arrange her affairs.

Hendrick, aged 32, with an address at Cherry Orchard Court, Ballyfermot, had pleaded guilty to having no insurance and no driving licence at Buckingham Street, Dublin 1, on April 26, 2016.

The court had heard that Hendrick had 25 previous convictions including four for no insurance and three for no driving licence. At Blanchardstown Court on December 21 last, she had received a 10-year ban for no insurance. On September 4, 2014, she had received a two-year ban for no insurance.

Hendrick’s solicitor, Geraldine McKenzie, asked Judge McHugh if he would consider suspending the sentence. She said Hendrick was worried about what would happen to her two children.

Ms McKenzie said Hendrick understood the seriousness of the offence.

Judge McHugh told Ms McKenzie: “This woman has 25 previous convictions and four previous for no insurance. She has continuously broken the law. No one is above the law”

He sentenced Hendrick to four months jail with a 10-year driving ban for no insurance.
