Bikes brighten Ballyfermot for 70th anniversary

THE Ballyfermot Bright Bikes scheme was officially launched by Councillor Vincent Jackson on Tuesday.
The Bright Bikes scheme is a joint initiative between Ballyfermot Environmental Group, Dublin City Council’s Ballyfermot Community Team, and Lynch’s Lane Men’s Sheds.

An objective of the scheme is to highlight the importance of Ballyfermot’s environment and to brighten up the area, in this, the year of Ballyfermot’s 70th anniversary.
The bikes – sourced locally from Ballyfermot Garda Station’s Community Sergeant James Curran – were previously abandoned eyesores in the area.
Following transformative work by the Men’s Sheds, the bikes are instead now adding some lovely colour to the Ballyfermot Road.
The Ballyfermot Environmental Group is dedicated to improving the area’s appearance in every respect and is actively working towards a Tidy Towns competition win in the next few years.
