Bilingual cafe host medieval combat
A local bilingual Irish/English café held an exciting event as part of Heritage week last weekend.
Aon Scéal Café, Tallaght held a demonstration on Saturday afternoon of medieval combat with the actors involved dressed in medieval armored dress.
“Fragarach Medieval Armoured Combat did a fantastic job entertaining the crowd, they spoke about the weapons they used, which are historically accurate, and put on a brilliant show. We saw combat techniques and grappling practices, and even a cúpla focail i nGaeilge,” said Dawn Nic Iomhair, Aon Scéal Café.
The bilingual café worked with Tallaght Historical Society to organise the event.
“Tallaght Historical Society received funding for the event through the library, from South Dublin County Council. We are so grateful for all the support we get from South Dublin County Council. Without that we wouldn’t be able to have these amazing free family days,” said Dawn.
Free refreshments were also provided at the event.
Aon Scéal Café are hoping to invite Fragarach back soon.
“Fragarach will be starting back training in September. We hope to have them return for a family day in October,” added Dawn.
