Bohernabreena Tractor Run shows what farming is about

THE Tallaght hills were alive with the sound of tractors on Sunday, when the annual Bohernabreena Tractor Run and Family Field Day geared up.
More than 115 vehicles took part in the run, which was this year organised in aid of St Anne’s Church and the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation.

A snapshot of local farm life, the day had a diverse programme of rural-based activities which included sheep-shearing, sheep dog trials, farm animals, pony rides and Guess the Weight of the Baby Lamb.
According to local farmer, Donie Anderson: “The day went very well, everybody seemed to enjoy themselves.
“The Tractor Run shows people what farming life is about and the animals, work and traditions that are part of life in a rural community.
“There are so many people in Tallaght living really close to a farming community, but they don’t come into contact with it.
“Alongside having a great family fun day, the Tractor Run aims to raise awareness of Tallaght’s rural community and give adults and children the chance to experience the local farming way of life . . . and meet all of the animals.”

The final total raised on the day for St Anne’s Church and the Jack and Jill Foundation has yet to be confirmed.
