Bollards in Tallaght Village leading to traffic tailbacks

TWO bollards, which were placed on the roadway on Main Road in Tallaght Village in recent weeks to prevent drivers from going the wrong way through a right turn lane, are now leading to traffic tailbacks.

The council stated that vehicles wishing to turn right onto Greenhills Road were not waiting to get into the right turn lane at the start of the lane.

Instead, according to the council, they were driving the wrong way through a right turn lane going in the other direction and through the ghost island to get into the right turn lane for Greenhills Road.

A spokesperson from South Dublin County Council said: “The bollards have been installed to stop vehicles performing such a manoeuvre. It is a permanent measure.”
