
Budget 2017 Social Welfare increases set to kick in this week
Increases to several social welfare payments announced in October as part of Budget 2017 will come into effect this week.
The increases were announced by Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe, and include payments such as Jobseeker’s Benefit and Jobseeker’s Allowance.
From March 8 the personal rate for Jobseeker’s Allowance for those aged over 26 increases to €193 per week, while those aged 25 will see their payment rise to €147.80 per week.
Meanwhile, the maximum rate for those claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance aged between 18-24 will be €102.70.
From March 9 the personal rate for those on Jobseeker’s Benefit also rises to €193 per week.
There will also be increases this week to other payments including Pre-Retirement Allowance, the Farm Assist payment and more.
Finally, expected increases to other payments including Maternity Benefit will take effect from later in the month of March.
