Calls for autism units in schools

A MOTION calling for more Autism Spectrum Disorder units in schools in the Lucan area has been passed by the Lucan Area Committee of South Dublin County Council.

At a recent meeting of the committee, Councillor Danny O’Brien put down a motion calling on “the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton TD, to put a plan in place to provide more Autism Spectrum Disorder units in schools in the Lucan area.

"Currently parents are having difficulty finding place’s in schools in this area for their children. Parents are having to travel across the city to get an education for their children.

"Lucan has one of the highest school going populations in the country and we need more ASD units in this area.”

As the motion was passed a letter will be sent by SDCC to Minister Bruton.
