A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help bring home a young Tallaght man, who lost his life in a pool accident in Greece on Monday.

Timmy Ajiboye (22), who is a past student of Firhouse Community College and a former juvenile player with St Anne’s GAA Club, died following an accident in the swimming pool of an apartment complex he was holidaying in with friends.

Timmy’s friends have started a GoFundMe page to help the Ajiboye family bring their loved one home – with more than €16,400 raised in just two days.

On the GoFundMe page, called Bring Timmy Home, friends have written: “Our beloved brother Timmy Ajiboye passed away on May 28 while on holiday with a couple of friends.

“This GoFundMe page is to help raise money to support his family with funeral arrangements and to bring his body home so he can get the proper send-off he deserves.

“Any amount contributed will be much appreciated.”

Timmy’s brother Tommy has taken to Twitter to thank everyone for the outpouring of support.

Tommy wrote: “I’m overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from friends to complete strangers.

“Raising funds was the furthest thing from my mind when I got the news on Monday, but his friends took the initiative to try to help out, and I’m eternally grateful. Thanks to everyone.”
