
Cannabis herb worth €80k seized by gardai and man (40s) arrested
CANNABIS herb worth an estimated value of €80,000 was seized by Gardai during a search operation in the Fortunestown area of Tallaght on Tuesday afternoon.
During the discovery, a man in his 40s was arrested and was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station within the Dublin Region.
A Garda statement issued on Wednesday afternoon said: “As part of Operation Tara, Gardaí from the Dublin Crime Response Team (DCRT) conducted a planned search of a residential property located in the Fortunestown area of Dublin 24 on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024.
“During the search, cannabis herb with an estimated value of approximately €80,000 (pending analysis) was discovered and seized.
“Subsequently, a male in his 40s was arrested and is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station within the Dublin Region.
“The seized drugs will undergo analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI)”.
Gardai say investigations into the matter are ongoing.
