Cars targeted in Tallaght estate as mindless vandalism continues

A blatant act of mindless vandalism in Tallaght has been condemned this week after several cars were damaged in the Aylesbury area.

It appears the vehicles, mostly in the Heatherview area, were targeted for criminal damage purposes rather than theft as there were no break-ins reported.

Speaking about the latest attack on residents’ property this week, Cllr Dermot Richardson condemned the incident and urged locals to contact the community Garda if they had property damaged.

Anyone who may have seen anything in recent days are also asked to contact Tallaght Garda station on 01-6666000.

According to Cllr Richardson a vehicle was also set on fire in Aylesbury Shopping Centre on Sunday, and Gardai are now waiting to view CCTV footage as part of an ongoing investigation.

In this week’s Echo we have a nine-page community crime special which will focus on crime in the community, the lack of resources available, and what’s next for areas including Tallaght, Clondalkin, Ballyfermot and Lucan.
