CIARA Casey played her part in Ireland’s tremendous victory in the Women’s Home Internationals at Little Aston Golf Club near Birmingham.

The Hermitage Golf Club player combined with Paula Grant in Foursomes competition and, while they lost out to Scottish pair Shannon McWilliam and Hannah McCook in their opening match, they did bounce back against Wales the following day, seeing off Georgia Lewis and Jordan Ryan 2&1.

They were unable to replicate that victory in their clash with defending champions England on the final day, losing out to Emma Allen and Rochelle Morris in the morning foursomes in which the two sides finished level.

But a 5-4 victory in the singles, clinched Ireland’s first Ladies Home Internationals title since 2004.

ELSEWHERE Newlands Golf Club’s Raymond Cameron and Castle’s Robert Moran were part of the Ireland squad that finished runners-up at the Boys Home Internationals at St Anne’s Old Links.

Having drawn with Scotland on the opening day of competition, Ireland lost out to eventual winners England 10-5 in their next match.

Yet they finished on a high note, beating Wales on the same scoreline in their final match to secure second place.
