THE Ciarán Carr Foundation is hosting their annual 5k run in Corkagh Park on Sunday, September 30, reports Maurice Garvey.

This year, the organisation are hosting a colour run in an effort to support and maintain more than 50 defibrillators they have installed across the wider Clondalkin community.

To ensure the devices are maintained, they are creating a trust fund that will go towards servicing the defibrillators.

Ciarán Carr collapsed while training with Round Towers senior football team in 2012 – his death attributed to Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS).

He had already booked his 21st birthday party but family and friends ensured the night went ahead – raising €24,000 for the CRY Foundation in Tallaght Hospital.

With help from the community, Ciarán’s parents Gemma and Philip, set up the foundation to prevent sudden cardiac death tragedies occurring in Round Towers and the wider community.

Residents are encouraged to register for the event on the foundation’s Facebook page.

They recommend participants wear white or old clothes for the colour run.

Tickets are €10 for adults and free for under 16s.
