Citywest firm help complete refurb of school science lab

CITYWEST employees from biopharma company AbbVie, were among a team of workers who helped refurbish a schools science lab.

More than 60 AbbVie staff from Citywest and Santry participated in the company’s global volunteering initiative, linking up with Volunteers Ireland, students, parent representatives and staff from New Cross College Finglas at the completion of an extensive refurbishment of the school’s lab.

The activity reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to science education and students will now have a new-look science facility when they return from their summer break in September.

Todd Manning, General Manager, AbbVie said: “AbbVie has an ongoing commitment to help transform science education in our communities. We hope that our efforts this week will give the students of New Cross College a better chance of a successful future and potentially inspire a new generation of scientists and engineers.”

Derek Lynch, Principal at New Cross College said theDEIS school were “extremely grateful to be chosen by AbbVie for their global volunteer week activity” as they were not in a position to fund the refurbishment of our science lab themselves.
