THE operator of the Citywest Hotel’s plans for a 224-unit apartment development on Garters Lane in Saggart have been given the green light by An Bord Pleanála (ABP), while their proposal for a 272-unit residential development on Mill Road in Saggart is at the pre-planning consultation stage.

Cape Wrath Hotel ULC, which operates the Citywest Hotel, lodged their successful application for the Garters Lane development through ABP’s fast-track planning scheme last September, and were granted planning permission last month.

It is proposed that the 224 apartments will be housed across four blocks, comprising 82 one-bed units, 121 two-bed units, and 21 three-bed units.

The proposed apartment blocks are to be arranged over two single-level basements, and will be five- to six-storeys high, with the exception of the first apartment block which will have an eight-storey element.

Permission was also granted for 191 car parking spaces and 470 bicycle parking spaces.

ABP granted permission for the development on December 15, with a number of conditions.

These conditions include the provision of public lighting, all service cables associated with the development are to be located underground, and revised drawings are to be submitted in relation to traffic, transportation and mobility. On December 21, Cape Wrath lodged a pre-planning consultation application for a separate 272-unit residential development, comprising 58 houses, 36 duplex units and 187 apartments, on Mill Road.

A decision on the pre-planning application is due from ABP by March 2.
