Citywest vaccination centre is expected to be open mid-March

THE vaccination centre at Citywest is expected to be open by mid to late March, with a dedicated workforce “central” to it achieveing full operational status of 50 vaccination bays.
The HSE has located 37 vaccination centres nationwide, which will be used to vaccinate the wider population.

Two locations have been identified for the HSE’s CH07 (Dublin South, Kildare and West Wicklow) catchment area – Citywest Hotel and Punchestown in Naas.
Once fully operational Citywest will have 50 vaccination bays, while Punchestown will have 20.
In a comment to The Echo, a spokesperson for Dublin Midlands Hospital Group and the CH07 area said: “The centres will come on stream as needed with Citywest expected to be completed by mid/late March, with a dedicated workforce being central to achieving full operational status.
“All centres will be ready in advance of the need to match vaccine supply which, based on current information, is forecast to reach a peak in Quarter 2.
“This list is subject to change as the rollout progresses, and as additional locations are identified.”
From Monday of this week, vaccines are being administered in healthcare settings to front-line workers and people aged over 85 years.
Around 100 GP centres nationwide received a delivery of vaccines on Monday, with the rollout to additional clinics and centres continuing in the coming days and weeks.
“At the moment, vaccine administration is limited only by the supply of approved vaccines and that is dependent on the manufacturers meeting their supply commitments”, the spokesperson said.
“The HSE is engaged in creating an expanded vaccination infrastructure, managing a suite of vaccine products with different handling and delivery requirements.”
The spokesperson confirmed that there is no charge for a Covid-19 vaccine.
“At the moment, people do not need to register for vaccination in advance – when we move forward to begin vaccinating the next priority groups, the HSE will use news, public notices, advertising, social media, partner organisations to alert people that it’s their turn to come forward”, the spokesperson said.
“For those who do not have a GP, the HSE can support people through our phone line.
“More information on this process will be announced by the HSE very shortly, and we will be engaging with partner organisations, to keep them informed, and to ask for their support as relevant.”
