30 groups to participate in the Clondalkin parade

THE call has gone out for musicians and singers to volunteer at this year’s Clondalkin St Patrick’s Day parade on March 17 (starting 2.30pm Tuthills carpark).
Up to 30 groups are set to take part in the procession and traffic plans have been arranged by authorities to ensure the parade is another successful family friendly day.
The parade will go through Clondalkin village
Festival organiser and Clondalkin councillor Francis Timmons, has appealed for volunteers to help out in the celebrations.
Cllr Timmons said: “We are well under way in planning but would welcome volunteers to help us in many jobs, such as erecting and taking down barriers. We also need people to dress up as characters to give out sweets and would welcome any local singers or bands that would like to entertain around the village.
“We are delighted that the Clondalkin Echo is our media partner for this year’s parade, which enters its third year back in Clondalkin Village and growing every year. Also, anyone that would like to sponsor the parade can contact us.’’
Grand Marshal Mary Dardis, will be joined by judges Kathleen Gill, Joe Mannion, with MC Finbar Coady. Groups confirmed so far include Clondalkin Youth Band, Clondalkin Motor Cycle Club, Round Tower GAA Club, Clondalkin Fairtrade, The Echo and a variety of local dance, sports and community groups and clubs.
Festival organisers are working with Clondalkin Garda Station, South Dublin County Volunteer Centre and Clondalkin Tidy Towns to provide a safe family friendly day for the community.
A traffic plan for the day has been finalised with South Dublin County Council and Clondalkin Garda Station, can be viewed at the Clondalkin St Patrick Festival website.
Details of the traffic plan will be flagged in The Echo and on our social media channels in the lead up to the parade.
