Local man Paddy Daly in the running to become Dublin’s Best Taxi Driver
A taxi driver, best known for going the extra mile for his passengers, is in the running to become Dublin’s Best Taxi Driver.
Paddy Daly, who is originally from Tallaght, drives special needs service users in Cheeverstown House and St Michael’s House, and since he was nominated for the 98FM Best of Dublin award, messages of support have been flooding in.
According to those who know Paddy he is much more than just a driver, and his ‘gang’ who he drives from place to place say he is the best friend they could have.
Speaking to Echo.ie, Sharon Dunne said Paddy is loved by everyone he helps, and even gives up his time to DJ in Cheeverstown House.
She said: “Paddy goes far beyond the norm for a taxi driver but especially with his ‘gang’. He also gives up his time to DJ for Cheeverstown at their summer and Christmas parties, as well as any other time he is asked.
“He does all this without realising what he means to the people he transports or their families.
“Paddy had no idea he was nominated and to become a finalist he is overwhelmed and humbled.
“He also has many, many regular customers, some of whom only trust Paddy to collect their children from concerts, nights out etc.”

The very best of luck to Paddy from everyone at The Echo Newspaper and Echo.ie.
