
Clondalkin St Patrick’s Day parade will be the best yet

THE business community in Clondalkin have chipped in to ensure the success of the St Patrick’s Day Parade, on Saturday, March 17 (starting at 2.30pm in Tuthills carpark).
Festival organiser and Clondalkin councillor Francis Timmons, said the event is “building up to be the best yet.”

Cllr Timmons said: “We are delighted to have so much support. Monetary sponsorship has been given by our main sponsors of Greyhound, the Green Isle, Clondalkin Credit Union, Brian Mc Elroy Funeral Directors, and K & G Funfair.
“We have also received sponsorship from Marcos Take-away, Playtime amusement arcade, Roma Take-away, Purty Central, Qs Bingo and our media sponsor The Echo. We got spot prizes from Pattaya Chinese restaurant, Shells Styles, The Cake Fairy, Funky Do Hairdresser and Bubbles Ahh beauty salon and help form Nicos.’’
Cllr Timmons thanked committee members, volunteers, and everyone who is taking part in the parade.
No better place to be
“We have a brilliant village here in Clondalkin, and a great town for ceol agus craic there is no better place to be on St Patricks day, than Cluain Dolcáin,” he said.
Up to 30 local sporting and community groups are set to take part in the procession, which will include entertainment from Clondalkin Youth Band, St Joseph’s Pipe Band, motor bikes and a collection of vintage cars.
Old Nangor Road will be closed from 1.30pm to allow the parade set up (from the Irish School to Clondalkin Leisure Centre).
There will be barriers erected and manned by gardai at the following locations – top of old Nangor Road, McDonalds entrance, at the junction of 9th Lough Road, Watery Lane, Main Street Monastery Road, New Road, at the junction of Moyle Park, at Siac, and at St Bridget’s Road.
Barriers will also be erected from Main street to Tower Road.
Access to emergency services will be available at all times from Tallaght – via Fonthill Road – Boot Road – Convent Road, and from from Nass Road – via Monastery Road – Main Street.
