Colm Ward appointed Deputy Chief Executive of county council
DIRECTOR of Housing in South Dublin County Council Colm Ward, will be appointed Deputy Chief Executive in June.
Current chief executive of South Dublin County Council, Daniel McLoughlin, will retire from the role after a 10-year stint leading the local authority.
In a circular sent out to elected members this week, Mr McLoughlin acknowledged that he will complete his contract as chief executive on June 3.
“I wish to advise that following an internal competition I have appointed Mr Colm Ward as Deputy Chief Executive with effect from June 4, until such time as the position is filled on a permanent basis following a national competition by the Public Appointments Service. I intend to avail of some accrued annual leave during May and Colm will also cover any such absences,” said Mr McLoughlin.
McLoughlin has overseen the council’s response to issues such as the pandemic, and severe weather events like the heavy snow in 2018.
His tenure has also included overseeing projects such as the Clonburris development, the €300k Have Your Say scheme, and the development of older persons’ housing projects.
