Proposals also include provison for a new yoga studio on the first floor and a flat roof with a new entrance at the rear of the extension.

Gardai investigated an incident in June, after the premises was targeted with petrol-filled bottles, leaving an area near the front of the building blackened and torched.

No one was in the gym at the time of the attack, which gardai were treating as an act of criminal damage.

According to their website, the Colosseum Gym offer a range of services, including full size boxing ring, MMA hexagon and a wide selection of classes and personal training services.
