Community support for teenager viciously assaulted

RESIDENTS in Neilstown will take to the streets tonight (Wednesday), to march in support of a teenager who is now fighting for his life after he was viciously assaulted.
The youngster, who had just finished his Leaving Cert, sustained serious injuries when attacked by a number of people outside a house at Rowlagh Gardens on July 2.

The Echo understands he is in a coma at Beaumount Hospital with his family keeping vigil by his bedside.
The Walk of Hope takes place tonight (Wednesday, July 11) starting from Neilstown shopping centre, at 7.30pm.
Rachel O’Reilly, a Neilstown resident, organised the march, to show solidarity for the victim’s family.
“We need to all pull together as a community, it is sickening what happened,” said Rachel.
“We all have children and are willing to show our support.”
A large number of residents have expressed interest in taking part, but residents hope children and teenagers will also get involved and show their support.
The walk will travel from Neilstown carpark, up to Supervalu Rowlagh, and back to Neilstown car park, to light candles and address the crowd.
Tea and coffee will be available after the walk in the youth service.
