Cork Film Festival screens ‘I Used to Live Here’

A Film set in Tallaght, which features young, first-time actors from the area, is being shown to Transition Year and senior cycle students in Cork as part of the Cork International Film Festival (CIFF).
‘I Used to Live Here’ was released back in 2015 and stars Jordanne Jones from Killinarden, the daughter of senator Lynn Ruane, and Dafhyd Flynn, also from Killinarden.

The up-and-coming actors have starred in several productions since they made their acting debut in the film, which was written and directed by Frank Berry.
The film centres on 13-year-old Amy Keane, played by Jordanne Jones, who is grappling with the responsibility of running the family home after her mother passes away, while her father’s attention is focused on an old girlfriend.
The community is then plunged into grief following the death of a local boy by suicide, which has a profound impact on Amy.
The film was made in collaboration with Headstrong, the National Centre for Youth Mental Health, and teenagers in Cork will watch the film as part of the Intinn programme for teens, which is being run by the CIFF, that explores mental health and personal wellbeing.
The film was specially selected to be screened as part of the Intinn programme, and the remote screenings this week for the Cork schoolchildren will be followed by a Q&A with director Frank Berry, rising star Jordanne Jones and youth mental health advocate Dr Tony Bates.
