Coronavirus: 2,125 new cases confirmed

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of 2,125 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Today’s figures are the highest since mid February, according to Chief medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan. He has urged all those who are not vaccinated to go and get their first jab.

According to information provided through the Department of Health’s Twitter account, 2,125 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 are being reported as of midnight, Friday, August 20.

The Department also confirmed that 259 people are in hospital, 54 of whom are in ICU.

Daily case numbers may change due to further data review, validation and update.
