
Council reviewing CCTV after early morning fire in Sean Walsh Park playground

SOUTH Dublin County Council is currently reviewing CCTV in an attempt to identify the cause of a fire in the playground of Sean Walsh Park in the early hours of this morning.
The playground is open to the public today, however, the piece of equipment that was damaged has been decommissioned.

In a statement to The Echo, a council spokeswoman said: “The District Parks Supervisor was informed this morning that an item of equipment (climbing frame/slide) was damaged due to fire overnight.
“The damaged item has been decommissioned and the playground remains open.
“Repairs will be carried out as soon as possible.
“The Council is currently reviewing CCTV footage and any available footage will be made available to An Garda Síochána.”
Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the scene at around 1am this morning (Monday, August 6).
Sean Walsh Park was recently awarded Green Flag status after hours of work was invested into the park by local volunteers and the council.
