Couples Wedding plans are put on hold due to coronavirus

PLANNING a wedding can be stressful enough but for one local couple, their big day was plunged into uncertainty because of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
When Lisa McGrath and her partner Georgie Radford got engaged two-years-ago, they never could have imagined that their wedding day plans would be put on hold because of a worldwide disease.

Talking about the stress of the situation, Tallaght native Lisa, who co-runs Dizzy Footwork Dance Academy, said: “I run a dance school and I’m used to planning events, so I wasn’t very hung up on just changing the date.
“I got a bit freaked though when I found out that I had to redo it all but to take a positive out of a negative, at least we’ve rescheduled it.”
Taking up a rather positive outlook on the situation, the biggest problem for the couple was letting their June Bank Holiday weekend booking go.
“It was a big decision, we just didn’t want to let that weekend go and it’s a big wedding as well. But it was easier to flip it over from that date until August instead of until next year.

“We got every single supplier back as well. Our biggest concern was just if people would be available or not then but we’ve set it at that date, if we get there and we still can’t have it then we’ll delay it again.
“Who knows it could be third time lucky.”
The “bulk” of the 250 people invited to the wedding are now scheduled to travel down to Wexford in mid-August – should measures in relation to Covid-19 be lifted by then.
