Creagh links up with Queensland

TIARNÁN Creagh from Tallaght is swapping Virginia Heights in Springfield for Brisbane, after teaming up with Queensland University’s Rugby outfit.

It has been a whirlwind season for the National College of Ireland Sports Scholarship student, after he helped his Terenure College team-mates do the double-double, winning the league in 2015 and 2016 while playing for the Under 20s.

He was then elevated into the senior team, and recently played his part in helping them climb out of the relegation zone in the Ulster Bank League, following a 3-3 draw with UCD.

Speaking to The Echo Creagh’s father Michael said: “Tiarnán is getting ready to play his first game for his new team, though he has yet train with his new team-mates, as it had to be cancelled due to the damage the cyclone caused in the area.

“I’ve been videoing him [Tiarnán] playing ever since he was playing Under 9s, and when Queensland saw the video they had been sent of Tiarnán playing, they immediately liked that they saw, and wanted to sign him.”

The Tallaght man has signed up for an initial year with the Australian University, and if things go well, he is open to extending his stay there.
