Croft Nursing Home Art Exhibition at Ballyfermot Library
THE CROFT Nursing Home in Inchicore is delighted to announce that their annual art exhibition will be launching on July 11 at Ballyfermot Library and will run until July 17, reports Steven Reid.
A similar exhibition was hosted last year at the library as well.
An array of pieces from residents will be on display such as paintings, drawings, and other crafts. Many of the pieces have been toiled on by residents for the better part of the last six months.
Bara Palcik is responsible for coordinating this event and overseeing the creative works of the people at Croft, and she is especially thrilled to see another rendition of the exhibition take place this year.
Speaking on the process of working with them recently, Bara said: “Our weekly art sessions have become a ritual and joy for me.
I enjoy watching how carefully the residents handle their brushes and how they’re trying not to get dirty using paints.
I really like to talk to them about the characteristics of certain colours and materials, but I also love our little conversations about everything and nothing.
“I talk about my life as a mother and artist, I try to fill them in with what I have seen that week outside their walls, and the changing weather.
I love when they make me laugh with their little jokes and believe me, they do that on so many occasions.
It has been an honour to become their dear companion as we grew closer — we mutually fell in love so to speak” she added.
All six of the main residents who will have works on display will be in attendance when the exhibition opens on July 11 at 3 pm to honour both their own achievements, and a selection of pieces from last year’s residents who have sadly passed on.
Bara concluded by saying: “I wish you to walk around this room and look at the paintings, hats, beads, stones, and drawings.
See the artwork made by my gang and the other residents of the Croft Nursing Home. Please pause for a moment or two. Look through their eyes. Do you see it?”
Bara, the residents of Croft, and Ballyfermot library encourage anyone to come experience the exhibition and celebrate these amazing pieces of art.
