Crumlin girls are on Cloud Nine

CRUMLIN claimed the scalp of St Peregrines in the Division Nine Féile Final, winning out 4-1 to 1-4 in Tallaght Stadium on Sunday.

While St Peregrines got their nose in front with a point from the off Crumlin responded with a goal and a point in quick succession for a lead which could have been extended only for a good save from close quarters by Kayla Flood.

What followed was a pretty open and exciting end-to-end affair with both defences being repeatedly tested, but it was Peregrines who trailed by four points at half-time after shipping a second goal late in the half.

Kayla Flood moved to outfield and that unsettled Crumlin’s defence as she eventually got her goal after a mazy run down the left field.

Yet Flood’s second half heroics proved to be in vain as Crumlin ramped up the pressure, scoring three more goals, Abbey Ryan, Jolene Dignam and Kristen O’Connor all finding the back of the net.

Alana, Alex and Kaci Hodgins all made their mark for Crumlin with the latter chipping in with a goal in this tie.
