Daire remains in second in the championship

DAIRE Flock continues to grow in confidence as he remains in second place in the championship as he goes to Donnington Park with three rounds still to go, to decide the championship.

As Daire entered race day in Snetterton last week, the weather was going to play a factor as the forecast was high temperatures at the Norfolk track reaching 32 degrees!

Qualifying was only 15 minutes pre-race testing on Friday suggested the drivers had to bring the tyres up to temperature and not to over heat them.

This proved to be the case as the best times were set at the end of the session.

Leaving Daire qualifying 2nd for race one and pole for race two.

A poor start in Race One demoted Daire to third, this started a race long battle to regain second.

Over 20 minutes he would swap places several times with his fellow competitor, who followed closely behind Daire in the championship.

Unfortunately, this battling for second allowed his team mate to pull away, developing a 1.5 second gap that the leader maintained.

With 5 mins to go Daire was able to grab second on the last corner which he was able to keep to the chequered flag.

Again a poor start from pole in Race 2 put Daire in second which he maintained for most of the race until a small mistake pushed him wide demoting him to third.

This started a race long battle between three cars, being so close and with very little in between the cars, Daire tried throughout the race to reclaim second, which unfortunately he was not able to do.

Daire said after the weekend, ” I was confident I could have managed a couple of wins after my Anglesey victory, unfortunately it was not meant to be, I now look forward to Donington Park.
