Data service provider seeks seven acres in Grange Castle

INTERXION, a European provider of carrier and cloud-neutral co-location data centre services, is seeking seven acres of land in Grange Castle Business Park to cater for expansion of an existing data centre facility at the site.
The company opened a €28 million data centre facility in Grange Castle last year – in direct response to increased customer demand and opportunities in the Irish market.

It was the third such Interxion data centre in Ireland since the company first established a footprint here in 2001.
Grange Castle is seen by the company as a “strategic location for businesses looking to interconnect mission critical services in Ireland.”
Speaking at the launch of the €28 million DUB3 facility in Grange Castle last year, Tanya Duncan, Managing Director of Interxion Ireland, said “demand for our services has continued to grow and evolve as Ireland’s economy changes.
“This growth has come from both new clients to Interxion and to the Irish market and also as a result of our current clients expanding their own businesses.”
During construction of DUB3, up to 140 jobs were created, and the centre itself has 50 staff.
An application was received by South Dublin County Council from Interxion Ireland Designated Activity Company, to purchase a further area of 0.22 acres at the Grange Castle site, with an option to purchase a further 7.13 acres to cater for expansion.
At the recent monthly SDCC meeting, Chief Executive Daniel McLoughlin recommend disposing of lands totalling 7.35 acres at Grange Castle to Interxion.
Terms of the disposal would be under a 999-year lease.
Land in Grange Castle is calculated at €500,000 per acre.
Grange Castle is home to some of the world’s largest companies including Google, Microsoft, and Pfizer.
