Davis Under 16A hurlers through at Boden’s expense

A THRILLING 0-14 to 1-11 draw with neighbours Ballyboden St Enda’s in Kiltipper last Saturday was enough to see Thomas Davis through for a clash with Kilmacud Crokes in the semi final of the Under 16A Hurling Championship later this month.

Ballyboden, who themselves needed a win to progress, pushed their Tallaght rivals all the way and even led for some of the second half, but Davis did just enough to secure further passage.

They led by point at the break, as Bryan Keogh amassed seven over the course of the tie for the home side.

Fionn Murray and Sam Stewart worked tirelessly throughout while Eoin Behan and Sean Murphy did the same for Boden, the latter firing over eight points for the visitors, five of them coming from the dead ball.

They edged in front in the second half after Darragh Kenny found the back of the net, and the fierce battle continued to rage thereafter as the lead swapped hands.

Keogh hit two crucial points while Luke Dempsey, Sam Stewart and Sean Byrne also got in on the scoring act for Davis who did just enough against the recently-crowned Under 16 Division One champions.
