Decrease of 540 people signing on the live register

THERE was a decrease of 540 in the numbers signing on the live register in October across the four social welfare offices in the county.
On a seasonally adjusted basis the National Live Register total recorded a monthly decrease of 1,700 (-0.8 per cent) in October 2018, bringing the seasonally adjusted total to 210,700.
The total signing on in Tallaght fell by 272 while in Clondalkin it fell by 164
The number of persons on the Live Register in October 2018 is also the lowest number recorded in the seasonally adjusted series since May 2008.
In unadjusted terms there were 199,247 persons signing on the Live Register in October 2018. This represents an annual decrease of 37,245 (-15.7 per cent).
On a seasonally adjusted basis the Live Register showed a monthly decrease of 1,000 (-0.8 per cent) males in October 2018, while females decreased by 700 (-0.8 per cent) over the same period.
The number of male claimants decreased by 23,571 (-17.3 per cent) to 112,397 in the year to October 2018, while female claimants decreased by 13,674 (-13.6 per cent) to 86,850.
This compares with a decrease of 25,339 (-15.7 per cent ) to 135,968 for males, while female claimants decreased by 14,978 (-13.0 per cent) to 100,524 in the year to October 2017.
Tallaght
In Tallaght, the total signing on fell from 5,977 in September to 5,705 in October a drop of 272.
Among the under 25’s, there was a decrease of 66 with 817 signing on in September and 751 signing on in October.
In Nutgrove the total signing on fell from 2,358 in September to 2,338 in October, a drop of 20.
Among the under 25s there was a decrease of nine with 149 signing on in September and 140 in October.
Clondalkin
In Clondalkin there was a decrease of 164 with 3,701 signing on in September and 3,537 signing on in October.
Among the under 25s there was a decrease of 36 with 418 signing on in September and 382 signing on in October.
In Ballyfermot, the numbers signing on fell by 84 with 1,862 signing on in September and 1,778 signing on in October. Among the under 25s, there was a drop of 17 with 261 signing on in September and 244 in October.
