Despite the travel restrictions, Marie and Christy celebrate 66 years together with their family
TRAVEL restrictions have kept families apart but an overdue reunion took place this week after two long years.
Christopher Carey arrived back from Jersey in time to celebrate his parents Marie and Christy’s 66-year wedding anniversary.
Marie and Christy, from Rowlagh Crescent in Clondalkin, whose anniversary is July 31, have a big family but could not host a big day.
The lively pair would usually have a get-together to mark the occasion, however, Covid hasn’t put a dampener on the celebrations.
“We usually have a big celebration, but our daughter took us out to the Tower, and our son (Christopher) who lives in Jersey came back with his daughter Ciara. Two years is a long time, we were looking forward to seeing them,” said Marie.

The Carey’s raised seven children, five boys and two girls, and their family is expanding at a steady pace.
“We have 14 grandkids, and seven or eight great-grandkids with another great-grandkid on the way,” said a proud Marie.
“We are very lucky to have the seven, they are all married. All of them are very good, they are still very good, and been involved in local youth clubs. Two of the grandsons play in the League of Ireland.”
