Developer refused permission to increase size of houses

A DEVELOPERS’ attempt to get permission to increase the size of four houses in Balgaddy from a previous planning application has been refused by South Dublin County Council, who stated that it would represent “haphazard piecemeal development”.
Plans for the development at Wynyard, Foxborough Manor, Balgaddy in Lucan South, were lodged by William Murphy and Breda Shier last October.

The applicants sought permission to build four larger houses than were in their previous, unsuccessful planning application, with the houses to consist of two two-storey houses and two two-storey dormer houses, with associated parking and private open space.
South Dublin County Council refused permission for the development this month, stating that it would “poorly integrate with its site context”, and that the proposed access to the development “would be across lands in the control of South Dublin County Council, for which the necessary consent to do so has not been acquired”.
This application follows on from Mr Murphy and Ms Shier previous attempt at receiving planning permission for a housing development with four smaller houses at that site, which resulted in An Bord Pleanála refusing permission last March.
In the refusal of the developers’ most recent application, the council stated “the design and form of the proposal is generally the same as that refused permission by An Bord Pleanála.”
