DFB battled a gorse fire just above Bohernabreena and Piperstown hills last night
Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called to deal with a gorse fire just above Piperstown Hill and Bohernabreena yesterday evening as vegetation in the area remains very dry.
The units from Tallaght, Donnybrook and Rathfarnham attended the fire – the second gorse fire they were alerted to yesterday – with another blaze breaking out in Howth.

A spokesperson from DFB said: “It has been dry for a few days now and vegetation is dry.
“Please take care with rubbish, cigarettes and BBQs if out and about.”
Responding to a question about how these fires start from a member of the public, the spokesperson went on to say: “It’s hard to say. The ground is dry but the ignition has to come from somewhere. Glass magnifying the sun? Cigarette? Match?”
