Drama group joy with the Beauty Queen of Leenane performance
“THE show went incredibly well!” beams Michaela Courtney of Clondalkin Drama Group.
This statement is regarding the group’s production of ‘The Beauty Queen of Leenane’, which ran from May 26 to 29 in the Black Lion pub in Clondalkin, having originally been performed in Rathcoole from May 17 to 18.
They did six shows in total. It was their first time performing in Rathcoole, and they sold out both of their shows there.
The performance was “great” and “really encouraging” for the group because it indicated that they are still able to find an audience outside of Clondalkin.
The shows at Quinlan’s were also brilliant, and they attracted excellent audiences.
“Everyone we spoke to after the shows were absolutely full of praise – someone even said that our Jenny Molloy-Byrne (who played “Maureen”) should be on TV!”
Comments like that are always “so wonderful” for the group to hear; the support from the community “really keeps us going” and “pushes us” to put on better and better shows.
The group are “trying our best” to grow a bigger audience and spread their love of the dramatic arts throughout Clondalkin, so they hope that everyone who has come to see us will spread the word:
“We’re Clondalkin Drama Group, and we’re here to entertain!”
They are aiming to do some one-act plays in September and will be having auditions for those soon.
They will encourage people to keep an eye on their social media accounts in the following months for announcements related to those performances.
“We have lots of exciting stuff planned that we can’t wait to share with the community!”
Congratulations to all involved on a successful production!
