Driver allegedly assaulted another motorist following car crash
By Brendan Grehan
A DRIVER who allegedly assaulted the driver of another car that he had crashed into had his case remanded by Blanchardstown District Court.
Jurisdiction had previously been accepted in William Green’s case.
Green, aged 29, with an address at Stocking Hill, Rathfarnham, is charged with assaulting Javier Cid Torres causing him harm at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, on April 30, 2017.
He is also charged with dangerous driving, no insurance and no driving licence at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, on the above date.
He is also charged with hit and run-failing to give information, hit and run-failing to keep his vehicle at the scene, hit and run-failure to report an accident and hit and run-failing to stop at the Outer Ring Road, Clondalkin, also on April 30, 2017.
The court had heard it will be alleged that Green crashed into another car before driving off and then assaulting the injured party.
The injured party, Mr Cid Torres, got a lift from a passing motorist and followed Green’s car.
Green allegedly punched Mr Cid Torres and he received soft tissue bruising as a result the court had heard.
There was no appearance from Green in court.
Green’s counsel, Jennifer Jackson Bl, told Judge David McHugh that her client was “in treatment”. She asked for a further remand.
Judge McHugh remanded Green on continuing bail to a date in November for a plea or a date for hearing.
