Driver made false declaration to get licence at NDLS in Citywest
A DRIVER who made a false declaration to get a drivers licence at the NDLS in Citywest a fortnight after he got a four-year driving ban has been put off the road for six years by Tallaght Court.
Judge Patricia McNamara also fined Constantin Cerneaga €700.
Judge McNamara had heard that Cerneaga received a four-year ban for no insurance from Blanchardstown District Court on February 8, 2018.
Cerneaga, aged 34, with an address at Avondale Square, Dunboyne, County Meath, had pleaded guilty to making a false declaration under the Road Traffic Act at the NDLS offices, Citywest, Tallaght, on February 24, 2018.
The court had heard that Cerneaga made the false declaration in the NDLS offices on the above date and it transpired he had been disqualified.
Cerneaga was before Judge McNamara for a probation report and for sentencing.
Judge McNamara read the probation report.
She told Cerneaga: “You do realise that you can’t drive”.
Cerneaga said that he had a Moldovan driving licence.
Judge McNamara told Cerneaga: “You received a four-year ban and then you drove again and applied for a driving licence. You should not be driving.”
She banned Cerneaga from driving for six years and fined him €700.
