Driver refused to provide gardai with urine sample
A DRIVER who refused to provide gardai with a blood or urine sample appeared at Tallaght District Court.
John Connors (36), with an address of Stone Mason Court, Tallaght, appeared in court charged with road traffic offences.
Garda Ewan O’Dwyer told the court that on January 16, 2025, gardai observed a vehicle turning off the N7 at Citywest towards Tallaght at “excessive speed.”
Mr Connors was pulled over by gardai and appeared to be “slurring his words” and his eyes were “blurry.”
Conveyed to Tallaght Garda Station, the defendant refused to provide a sample of blood or urine.
Defence solicitor Ethan Foley, said his client is a father of four, a fulltime parent for his family and the only one in the household who is driving.
“He appreciates he should have been more co-operative with gardai and was apologetic for his behaviour.”
Mr Foley said his client appreciates the risks driving while intoxicated but that Mr Connors doesn’t have a history of drink driving and was willing to do a driving awareness course.
Judge Karen Dowling ordered a probation report for finalisation on February 6.
