Drunken man found on the ground drinking ‘raw vodka’
A DRUNKEN man was found lying on the ground under a bus stop, drinking “raw vodka” from a coke bottle and in “no fit state” to be out, a court heard.
Patrick Green, aged 49, was “in bad shape” when gardai arrested him for his own safety on a west Dublin street.

Judge David McHugh fined him €100 in his absence when he failed to appear in Blanchardstown District Court for the hearing of his case.
Green, of no fixed abode, had pleaded not guilty to public intoxication at Grange Castle Business Park, Nangor Road, Clondalkin on August 1, 2020.
However, his barrister Jennifer Jacskon said the accused was not in court when his hearing took place.
Garda Christopher Hogan said he received a call that a man was intoxicated and when he went to the scene, he found the accused lying on the ground under a bus stop.
Green was visibly intoxicated and in “bad shape,” Gda Hogan said. He was “drinking raw vodka from a coke bottle” and although his “attitude was good”, he was in “no fit state” to be out in public.
The garda arrested the accused for his own safety and brought him to Clondalkin Station. The garda observed the accused had visibly urinated on himself.
The court heard Green had 17 previous convictions, seven of which were for public intoxication.
Judge McHugh convicted and fined the accused, giving him six months to pay.
